MISSION & VISION
Central’s Mission:
We do justice:

Our faith community strives to do justice by sharing the good news of the Gospel with those who
are disenfranchised by society and the church.  Pictured above are Pastor Cheri and members of
Central at the RMN Convocation,   Kurt Young accepting GLU's Friend of the Community Award,
and members of Central helping to paint a home for a member of our community.
We practice kindness:

Members of Central regularly practice what we call radical hospitality.  The pictures above are of
the Central Oasis, a place for rest, restoration and recreation for people attending the Old West
End Festival in 2005.
We walk humbly with God.

Our faith community centers us towards a personal relationship with God.  We offer ongoing
support in developing one’s spiritual life through worship, prayer and study groups, and retreats.

Vision Statement

Central’s Vision:
We do justice:
Our faith community strives to do justice by sharing the good news of the Gospel with those who
are disenfranchised by society and the church.  By educating ourselves about injustice in our
society, and recognizing our own areas of privilege, we can better relate to communities of
need.  Through advocacy and direct activism we work to change the unfair systems of our
society.  In addition, we respond to particular situations of need through ministries of prayer,
service and financial support.

We practice kindness:
Our faith community’s ability to practice kindness is grounded in our core belief that all people
are beloved children of God.  We create an atmosphere of love, respect, and compassion for all
persons.  In both structured and unstructured interactions we claim our belovedness.  This
empowers us to reach outside our church walls to practice kindness to everyone around us.

We walk humbly with God.
Our faith community centers us towards a personal relationship with God.  We offer ongoing
support in developing one’s spiritual life through worship, prayer and study groups, and
retreats.  We value the practice of daily prayer and weekly Sabbath.  By connecting to God we are
drawn closer to one another and empowered to share the good news of the Gospel with those
who are disconnected from God.
